B.Optom (Hons) (Bachelor of Optometry & Vision Science with First Class Honors) Auckland University, Cert.Oc.Pharm. (Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics)
Roberta McIlraith graduated with her Bachelor of Optometry in 2004 and in 2006 achieved her Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics enabling her to prescribe ocular medications for certain eye conditions.
Following 2 years of new graduate positions in New Zealand (including Curtis Vision) she took a 12 month contact lens research position in England. Following a further 2 years general optometric practice in Australia Roberta returned to Curtis Vision in 2011 to pursue her interest in specialty contact lens fitting.
Roberta enjoys the broad range of patients she comes in contact with, but her particular interest lies in specialty contact lens fitting, in particular the challenging cases of keratoconus and other corneal ectasias, corneal-grafts, myopia control with orthokeratology and multifocal contact lens fitting in the post 45 age group.
Her underlying passion for the work she does is two-fold. First and foremost, to achieve early detection and intervention of eye disease thus maintaining the patient's eye health for the duration of their lives.
Secondly her goal is to enable the clearest, most comfortable vision for all aspects of her patient's varied lifestyles.
