Barbara Shaw decided at the age of 12 to become an Optometrist when she got her first spectacles and realised what a difference Optometrists could make in improving people’s quality of life.
With a Diploma of Optometry and Certificate in Ocular Pharmacology (TPA), Barbara began work at the original Curtis Eyecare practice in 1982. Fifteen years later she purchased the Curtis Eyecare New Brighton practice and set up a further practice in Fendalton under the name Vision One.
The company went on to grow and purchased Curtis Eyecare in 2010 before being sold to it's current owners in 2014. It continues as one of Christchurch’s leading Optometry practices under the name Curtis Vision.
Today, Barbara is still improving people’s quality of life providing the highest quality services in general optometry, geriatric optometry, contact lens fitting and specialist eye examinations to her patients.
