The Eye
Vision is the most important of human senses. It therefore essential to look after your eyes because you only get one set. As the diagram shows, the eye is a complicated organ. Your Optometrist and Optical dispenser can help you understand how yours works. Visual errors are mostly caused by out of focus light reaching the retina. Many people report this as difficulty seeing close up, far away or a combination of the both.

Eye Health
Optometrists are the primary eye health care provider, professionally trained to assess and advise on vision and eye health. Eyes can be easily affected by one’s general health, so it is important to have an eye examination once every two years or annually if you wear contact lenses.
Some of the more common eye health issues that are assessed and prescribed for are:
- Blurry vision
- Short sightedness
- Long sightedness
- Astigmatism
- Diabetes effects on the eyes
- Cataract
- Glaucoma
- Floaters
- Flashing vision
- Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
- Keratoconus (Corneal disease)
Following an examination our optometrists may refer you to an Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) or another health care provider when needed.
